Egypt are just one point away from reaching the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after thrashing Malawi 4-0 away from home on Tuesday afternoon.
The win comes just a few days after the pharaohs clinched a 2-0 victory in Cairo, thanks to goals from Mohamed salah and Omar Marmoush.
With Guinea beating Ethiopia earlier on Monday, Rui Vitoria's men knew that a win in Lilongwe would put them just inches away from reaching the final tournament in Ivory Coast.
Vitoria named an unchanged starting XI from the one that won in Cairo, with Salah leading the attacking line-up alongside Marmoush, mostafa mohamed, and Ahmed Sayed Zizo.
The Pharaohs didn't waste much time and found an early goal after just 5 minutes through an unlikely source as Tarek Hamed netted his first-ever international goal with a powerful strike from outside the box after a simple lay-up from Salah.
In the 16th minute, Egypt made it 2-0 after Omar Marmoush pounced on a loose ball inside the penalty area and tapped in the ball from close range following a corner from Mohamed Salah.
Four minutes later, Mohamed Salah turned from provider to goalscorer following a great link-up play between the Liverpool man and Mostafa Mohamed, before smashing the ball past the keeper.
At half-time, Vitoria replaced Mohamed El-Shennawy with backup keeper Mohamed Sobhi, who went the whole game untested.
Five minutes after the restart, Zizo completed the rout with a fourth goal after nudging in Mohamed Hany's cross.
Mostafa Fathi, Hamdi Fathi, Emam Ashour, and ahmed hassan kouka all came on for Zizo, Mahmoud Hamada, Omar Marmoush, and Salah as the game eventually finished in the 4-0 win.
The win moved up Egypt top of the group with nine points ahead of Guinea on goal difference, and now need just one point from the remaining two games to ensure their qualification.
Egypt's next game will come in June as they travel to face Guinea, before hosting Ethiopia in the final round in Cairo.
