Egypt moves up in men & women April FIFA World Ranking

The national football team has moved up four places in the April FIFA World Ranking, joining the women's team, who have been also on the rise.

The Pharaohs played two games last month, which they won against Malawi in the third and fourth rounds of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Rui Vitoria's men first won 2-0 in Cairo, before increasing their win margin to 4-0 in Lilongwe to become just a point away from reaching the 2023 .

This helped Egypt move up four spots in the FIFA rankings, from 39th to 35th, which marked their best placement since 2018 when they were 30th.

Meanwhile, Nigeria dropped five spots to fall back to 40, while Algeria moved up seven places to leap over the Pharaohs as they sit 33rd.

World Cup semi-finalist remain at the top of the African standings, sitting 11th, ahead of Senegal, 18th, and 28th-placed Tunisia.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian women's national team have also moved up one spot in the Women's ranking from 90th place to 89th, which marked their best ranking since 2018.

The Cleopatras sit 13th on the African leaderboards, which Nigeria tops alongside the likes of South Africa, Cameroon, and Ghana.
