Juan Carlos Osorio ‘more than excited’ to work at Zamalek

Newly-appointed head coach Juan Carlos Osorio has expressed his delight to take charge of the Cairo giants.

Zamalek president Mortada Mansour had announced the appointment of former boss as their new head coach.

The club were initially close to hiring former Bayer Leverkusen manager but the German turned down Zamalek's offer.

Just days after attempting to sign Herrlich, the White Knights have now landed Osorio on a reported one-and-a-half-year contract.

“I feel proud to work in Egypt and for a great club like Zamalek with such great history,” Osorio told the club's official TV channel.

“I will give 100% and try to get the best out of the players I have. I already feel the team's passion for the game and I am more than excited to work with them.

“I watched the connection between the youth and senior players in the team, which motivates me to try and get the best out of this group,” he added.

Osorio's first game in charge will be against rivals Arab Contractors in the Egyptian Premier League's 24th round on Monday, April 17th.
