Micah Richards: It was Salah’s dream to become a Liverpool legend

Former English international defender Micah Richards has revealed Mohamed 's desire to become a Liverpool icon since their time together at Fiorentina.

The Egyptian International spent six seasons on loan at “l Viola” from Chelsea in 2015 where he played alongside Richards.

Salah netted nine times for Fiorentina in his 26 appearances before he made a permanent move to the Italian capital to join AS Roma for two seasons.

Liverpool missed the opportunity of signing the Egyptian star during the January window of 2014 to Chelsea. However, The Reds would eventually secure his services three years later, agreeing a deal with AS Roma to bring the forward to Anfield.

Richards claimed that Salah always had the dream of becoming a Liverpool icon since his time in Florence, nearly two years before actually joining the Reds.

“It was always Mo Salah's dream to be a Liverpool legend. I played with him at Fiorentina and when we used to go out for coffee, he talked about his ambition to move to Anfield eventually,” Richards wrote in the Daily Mail.

“I knew when Liverpool signed him in 2017 they had a superstar in the making, but even I've been stunned by the number of goals he has scored. He needs four more to leapfrog Steven Gerrard (186) and get into the club's all-time top five. Don't bet against him doing it by the end of the season,”

It is undoubtedly that Salah has established himself as one of the Reds' best players of all time. The Egyptian has won all the possible trophies with the club, alongside, breaking plenty of English Premier League and Liverpool records.

After netting against last weekend, Salah moved up to joint-sixth in Liverpool's list of all-time scorers.
