egypt international Sam Morsy has captained Ipswich Town to promotion to the Sky Bet Championship for the 2023/24 season.
Morsy has joined Ipswich Town in August of 2021 from Middlesbrough and has been a key player for the Tractor Boys since then.
This season Morsy made 49 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing six assists as he helped Ipswich Town to return back to the Championship for the first time in four years.
Morsy started and captained Ipswich in the decisive game against Exeter City at Portman Road on Saturday and the hosts went on to win the game 6-0.
Starting the day four points ahead of third-placed sheffield wednesday with two games left, Morsy's side knew a win with any result would see them get promoted.
And Ipswich did just that as Morsy went on to assist the opening goal to Conor Chaplin just eight minutes in to inspire a demolition job.
The Tractor Boys found themselves 5-0 up inside the opening 32 minutes before Wes Burns added the sixth goal in the 47th minute.
This marks Morsy's fifth promotion in English football, having already won the league one title twice with Wigan Athletic, the League Two title with Chesterfield in 2014, as well as winning promotion from League Two with boyhood club Port Vale.
Having secured promotion, Ipswich will now turn their attention to the League One title as Morsy's side sit just one point behind current leaders Plymouth, with just a game remaining.
The final matchday of the season will see Ipswich Town travel to Fleetwood on Sunday, 7 May while league leaders Plymouth face Port Vale away from home.
