TENNIS: Mayar Sherif achieves new career-best in WTA Rankings

jumped 16 spots in the Rankings, moving from No.59 to a career-best 43 following his impressive performance in the Madrid Open.

Despite winning the first set against No.2 Aryna Sabalenka, Sherif lost two sets to one, and Sabalenka eventually went on to win the title against 's Iga Świątek.

Mayar's impressive run in Madrid saw her jump up 16 spots in the latest WTA rankings to achieve a career-best of 43rd placement.

Sherif's previous highest-ever ranking came in July of 2022 when she achieved the 44th spot.

Sherif will now shift her focus on the Italian Open where she will face World No.173rd Anna Blinkova in the round of 128 on Tuesday, May 9th.

In case she advances to the next round, Mayar will be up against Ukraine's Anhelina Kalinina, wqho is currently ranked 47th in the WTA rankings.
