Al Ahly’s Percy Tau called up for South Africa’s squad Morocco clash
Al Ahly‘s South African winger Percy Tau has been called up for the Bafana Bafana squad for their upcoming 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Morocco.
South africa's coach, Hugo Broos, initially announced a list of 34 players for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, with Tau and Pyramids fc's fagrie lakay leading the pack.
However, the list was later reduced to 23 players, which saw the exclusion of the Pyramids striker.
South Africa have already qualified for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations alongside Morocco in the group that only consists of three teams following the disqualification of Zimbabwe.
South Africa will face Morocco on June 17 at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, before Morocco host liberia in the final game in September.
The date of the match comes less than a week after Al Ahly's game against moroccan Wydad AC in the second leg of the CAF Champions League final.
Tau has been featuring regularly with the Red Devils as the 28-year-old has made 26 appearances this season, scoring 7 and making 6 in all competitions.
