Cairo giants Al ahly secured their place in the 2023 Basketball africa League (BAL) final after beating Stade Malien 78-73 in the semi-finals this Wednesday.
The playoffs are currently held from 20 May to 27 May 2023 in the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda.
Al Ahly had qualified for the semi-finals of the 2023 BAL, having beat hosts REG BBC 94-7 last Saturday.
The semi-finals saw Al Ahly clash with Malian giants Stade Malien in the hopes of reaching the competition's final for the first time.
The first quarter ended in a 17-17 draw before Stade Malien took the lead and went into the half-time break with a five-point lead, 38-35.
However, the Reds quickly bounced back, winning the third set 58-53, before emerging victorious 78-73 in the fourth set and reaching the final.
Al Ahly will face AS Douanes of senegal in the final, which will take place next Saturday on May 27th, after the latter stunned petro de luanda in the semis.
This will mark Al Ahly's first BAL final appearance in their first-ever competition appearance as they become the second Egyptian team to feature in the final after zamalek, who won the title in 2021.
